We master the challenges of injection-molded parts manufacturing

We master the challenges of injection-molded parts manufacturing
Manufacturing injection-molded parts can present various challenges, depending on our customers’ specific requirements and the material used. Some of the most common challenges that we are glad to master for you are:

Material selection

Selecting the right material for the injection molding process can be a challenge, as there are many factors to consider, including the desired properties of the final product, the cost of the material and the material’s manufacturing characteristics.

Tool design

The design of the injection mold is of great importance for the quality and accuracy of the manufactured parts. Not only must the tool be designed in such a way that it meets the customer’s specific requirements, it must also ensure high precision as well as a long service life

Prototyping

We provide support in designing your parts and in creating prototypes to ensure that the desired injection-molded parts meet your requirements and can be produced optimally.

Process control

Controlling the injection molding process requires close monitoring and supervision to ensure that the parts that are produced are of the highest quality and consistency. This requires specialized knowledge and experience in injection molding production. With over 30 years of know-how in the plastics industry, Midena Formentechnik is your ideal partner.

Thermoplastics processing

Areas of application

Thermoplastics processing is a method used in various industries – such as the medical sector, laboratory technology, construction, packaging materials as well as furniture and hardware – for the manufacturing of plastic parts.

Process

In thermoplastics processing, plastics that exhibit thermoplastic properties are brought into a specific shape by means of heat and pressure. The process consists of three steps: heating, shaping and cooling.

First, the plastic granulate or plastic powder is placed into a mold and brought to a specific temperature by heating. In the process, the plastic becomes pliable and can then be shaped into the desired form.

Shaping is carried out by applying pressure to the molten plastic, for example through injection molding, blow molding or extrusion Here the plastic is pressed into the mold and takes on the desired contour.

Once shaping is complete, the plastic part is cooled and hardened so that it retains its final shape. It is important that cooling takes place slowly and evenly to avoid the formation of stresses and warpage in the material.

Product examples

In the medical industry, thermoplastics processing is used to manufacture medical devices and instruments. In laboratory technology, the process is applied in the production of laboratory supplies, such as pipettes or petri dishes. In the construction industry, plastic parts are produced using thermoplastics processing for window and door construction. The process is also applied in the packaging materials industry as well as in furniture and hardware.

Advantages

Thermoplastics processing offers numerous advantages. The process is flexible and can be used for a wide range of shapes and sizes. It is also cost-effective and enables the production of large quantities in a short time. In addition, it offers high precision and repeatability in the manufacturing of plastic parts.

Liquid Silicone Rubber processing

Areas of application

Liquid silicone rubber (LSR), is a popular material for the manufacturing of plastic parts in various industries such as the medical sector, electrical and electronics industry, plant and equipment engineering as well as the automotive industry. LSR processing requires specialized knowledge and technologies.

Process

The processing of liquid silicone rubber (LSR) is carried out through injection molding or casting processes. The material is injected or poured into the mold in liquid form and then cured. Processing requires specialized technologies and machines that ensure the precision and quality of the manufactured parts.

Product examples

In the medical sector, liquid silicone rubber (LSR) is used due to its biocompatible properties. It is used for the manufacturing of medical devices such as catheters, prostheses and implants. Processing takes place under strict hygienic conditions and requires compliance with special standards.

In the electrical and electronics industry, LSR is used in the manufacturing of seals, cable insulation and electronic components for its excellent heat and cold resistance as well as insulating properties.

In plant and equipment engineering, LSR is used for the manufacturing of seals, hoses and other components that must withstand high temperatures, pressures and chemical influences.

In the automotive industry, LSR is used for the manufacturing of seals, hoses and other components that must withstand the higher standard for temperature, pressure and chemical resistance. The material is also suitable for use in the aerospace industry.

Advantages

Overall, liquid silicone rubber offers an excellent option for manufacturing plastic parts in various industries thanks to its properties and versatility. However, processing requires specialized knowledge and technologies to meet the requirements for quality, precision and reliability.
